This week's deal is from Croatia vs Ireland match and features good defending by Croatian team.

Ireland was playing a contract of 4 D and received a S lead. Declarer won the S in dummy with Ace and immediately took D finesse.

This was won by Croatian defender with Ace!!!

Convinced that D finesse was working declarer went into dummy with C Ace and repeated D finesse. When Croatian East took the trick with D Queen the contract was doomed for the declarer was short of entry to take H finesse.

The old ruse has worked for Croatia.
